When Families Are Forced to Move, We Stand With Them

Lebanon is living through one of its most painful moments in recent memory. Across the country, families are being forced to flee their homes, carrying little more than what they can hold, as uncertainty and fear grow by the day. Entire communities are being displaced, facing harsh and unpredictable conditions.

As the situation continues to deteriorate, thousands of individuals and families have been forced to leave their homes, struggling to meet their most basic needs. In response to these growing challenges, arcenciel has expanded its emergency interventions across the country, providing essential, on-the-ground support to communities affected by the crisis.

Since the start of the crisis, arcenciel teams have delivered more than 20,000 services, reaching over 9,200 people through a wide range of interventions covering health, social support, food assistance, and disability inclusion.

In response to the urgent need for shelter, arcenciel has stopped the touristic activities of our Ecolodge in Taanayel and fully transformed it into a shelter, currently accommodating and hosting families in need of protection and housing.

At the heart of this emergency response, Persons with Disabilities remain our focus. Within the Disability Inclusion sector, efforts have intensified to ensure that Persons with Disabilities are not left behind. To date, more than 1,200 assessments have been conducted in shelters and surrounding areas, leading to the identification of over 600 individuals in urgent need of support. In response, a big number of assistive devices have been requested, with more than 300 already distributed to improve mobility and daily living conditions, as efforts continue to reach those in need.

In parallel, arcenciel is addressing food insecurity through its inclusive kitchen, cuisine d’arcenciel in Beirut, where meals are prepared and distributed across multiple regions. To date, over 8,000 hot meals have been delivered to affected communities, providing daily support to displaced individuals and families, with approximately 200 meals continuing to be distributed each day. In addition to the meals provided by the Khan Al Makssoud’s central kitchen to the families we are hosting at our Ecolodge.

Beyond food, arcenciel teams are providing essential relief items, including clothing, hygiene kits, incontinence products, and heating wood, ensuring that basic needs are met for families facing increasingly difficult conditions.

Despite the ongoing crisis, our social circus, Cirquenciel, continues to provide adapted circus sessions alongside psychosocial support (PSS) activities for children with disabilities, including those from displaced families, as well as children with special education needs in Taanayel. These activities create safe and supportive spaces for expression, play, and emotional well-being, offering moments of relief and helping strengthen resilience during challenging times.

Across the Beqaa, the South, Beirut, Mount Lebanon, and the North, arcenciel teams are coordinating closely with the Emergency Taskforce for Persons with Disabilities to ensure effective referrals and access to essential services.

arcenciel is grateful for the continued support of its partners and donors and remains committed to delivering critical assistance and standing by those who need it most. As needs continue to grow, this support remains essential to sustaining and expanding our services to the people who need them most.
