Its mission is to preserve the tangible and intangible culture and traditional knowledge of Lebanon and the region through diverse activities (academic research, photography, interviews, etc.) and through the development of reproduction tools (books, projects, manuals, videos, etc.).
Through this work, the Heritage Unit seeks not only to protect traditions, but also to make them accessible and engaging for both Lebanese communities and visitors from around the world.
A key part of this vision is the ambitious project of establishing two unique museums:
This museum will showcase the old Middle East region’s ancestral and traditional agricultural tools. Built entirely from traditional mudbrick similarly to the Ecolodge and Khan El Maksoud Restaurant, it will offer visitors an immersive experience of Lebanon’s past. The site will also include a hands-on workshop where guests can try these age-old methods for themselves, bringing them closer to the country’s living heritage.
Highlighting Lebanon’s rich variety of honey and aromatic plants, this interactive museum will present the entire honey value chain. Lebanon is renowned for its rich and diverse varieties of honey, produced from different trees. In line with arcenciel’s mission to preserve and promote heritage while strengthening agricultural and agri-food production, the creation of such a museum is envisioned as a strategic project. It will serve not only as a destination for tourists and visitors, but also as a valuable learning hub for agricultural students.
