Located within arcenciel’s Jisr el Wati Center, Cuisine d’arcenciel emerged from the transformation of a former internal cafeteria into a high-impact initiative addressing critical social, economic, and humanitarian needs. This transformation reflects arcenciel’s strategic shift toward sustainable, inclusive service delivery models that go beyond short-term assistance.
Guided by the philosophy “Cuire à feu doux” (“Cooking on low heat”), Cuisine d’arcenciel emphasizes steady development, quality production, and long-term social value rather than rapid, short-lived outputs. The kitchen operates as a social enterprise that integrates food assistance, skills development, and inclusive employment within a single, coherent model.
In the context of Lebanon’s prolonged economic crisis, which has sharply increased food insecurity and unemployment, particularly among persons with disabilities and socially vulnerable groups, Cuisine d’arcenciel provides a concrete response to intersecting challenges. While access to nutritious food has become increasingly fragile, dignified employment opportunities for persons with disabilities remain extremely limited.
Cuisine d’arcenciel sits at the intersection of disability inclusion, food security, and social enterprise, embodying arcenciel’s broader mission to promote inclusive development, social justice, and sustainable livelihoods across Lebanon.
